USERS HOME PAGES HELP
All dial-up users have use of their own unique
username and password, e-mail address, and 5Mb of disk space
on our server, for non-commercial web site home pages, including
FTP access and up to 20 Mb per month free web traffic from
your web site. Here's some help to get your personal home
page uploaded to our servers.
| Install the FTP software on your
machine |
|
|
First of all, you need
to install an FTP "file transfer protocol" application
on your computer. We have such software for Windows or
Mac available at our FTP site. For Windows, get the file WS_FTP,
for the Mac, get Anarchie
Pro 3.0. Once you've downloaded your FTP client,
install it and come back here for the next step. |
| Log on to the WISE Web Server |
|
|
Start-up your FTP
client software and log onto the WISE Net web server
by giving the following in the login dialog box:
- Server: ftp.wise.net.nz
- User: *username*
- Password: *password*
The username and password are the
same as the ones you use to log on to WISE when you dial
in. From here on in, we'll pretend your username is joeblow |
|
|
If you have entered
your username and password correctly, the ftp software
will now be logged in to the server. You can now transfer
any files you like up to the server and they will be
placed in your personal directory. If you uploaded
a file named songlists.html to look at that file using
a web browser, use the url http://wise.net.nz/users/joeblow/songlist.html.
If you name your main file index.html or index.htm,
that file will be loaded into visitor's browsers when
they load the URL http://wise.net.nz/users/joeblow
Further information and assistance on WS FTP is available
here.
